Mother Me
by Katie Brown
Mother Me by Katie Brown is the kind of book that any new mum, trying
to navigate their way through the perils of motherhood, should have.
The main emphasis of the book is the wellbeing of the mother in all her
varied roles, ie. mother, lover, wife, friend and daughter. It offers
practical and sensible advice in a manageable, humorous and easy to read
format. Real stories are included from mums who are willing to share
their strategies in coping with problems and reaching their goals.
Throughout the book is a series of fun exercises to do that are thought
provoking and help reveal what is really important to you. Also
included in the book is a series of yoga exercises and baby massages
that many mums may find peaceful and rewarding. Definitely worth a try!
If you are in need of further practical advice turn to the back of the
book which has a whole host of services that can be contacted.
Everything from baby goods to support services are included. This book
is definitely worth having on hand to use either as a handy reference
or to read when things feel a bit much. It’s always nice to know you’re
not alone.

therapist and a yoga teacher. Life was grand. And then she had a baby.

new mothers I was focused on the pregnancy and the birth and I just
assumed that the rest of it would come together."
While she loved her baby dearly ...

Mother Me: A Mum’s Guide to Balance, Wellbeing and Harmony by Katie Brown (Macmillan $35)
Having
a baby is a life-changing experience filled with joy and exhilaration.
However this wonderful time can also bring sleep deprivation and baby
blues. Mother Me author Katie Brown is a yoga teacher, infant massage
teacher and mother of three who wanted to give women the tools to make
the transition into motherhood as rewarding as possible.
‘I wanted to help women become mothers without losing their sense of self and keeping inner peace and life balance,’ she says.
If
you’re a new mum, this book will help you focus on your wellbeing after
the birth. It addresses the need for balance in your life and reminds
you to take time out for emotional and physical self-care. Katie offers
tips on creating a peaceful home environment by addressing your work
and finances. Structured like a self-guided course, Mother Me provides
lots of space for you to jot down your thoughts and observations about
the birth of your baby and your early days as a mother.
